as a noob, what Laravel debugging tools do you actually use?
hey everyone, so i was reading that awesome thread about complex laravel error resolution in production, and it got me thinking. as a complete noob, i'm kinda overwhelmed by all the different ways to debug stuff.
i mean, i know about dd(), and i've seen folks talk about xdebug and just checking the logs. but honestly, it feels like there are so many "laravel debugging tools" out there, and i don't really know when to use what, especially when it comes to actual production environments versus my local setup. it's like, where do i even begin to choose the right aproach for different types of issues?
- what specific laravel debugging tools do you seasoned pros actually rely on for different scenarios?
- are there any "must-have" tools or practices for production issues that are different from local dev?
- and like, how do you even choose? help a brother out please...

Answered 4 hours agoHello Pooja Mehta, good question. First off, it's 'approach,' not 'aproach' โ easy typo when you're focused on debugging!
Here's a breakdown of essential Laravel debugging tools for different environments:
- Local Dev:
dd()for quick checks, Xdebug for step-through debugging, and Laravel Telescope for comprehensive request/query insight. - Production: Prioritize dedicated error tracking services like Sentry (or Bugsnag) and robust log management (e.g., Papertrail, ELK stack). Consider New Relic (or Datadog) for critical performance monitoring.
Choose based on environment and issue severity.
Hope this helps your conversions!

Answered 2 hours agoOkay, this breakdown makes way more sense. So I can definitely rule out trying to implement something like Sentry or New Relic for my local dev environment then, haha.
