content optimization tool failing
hey guys, i'm really hitting a wall with our new keyword density & frequency checker tool. it's supposed to be a core part of our content optimization strategy, crucial for effective content analysis, but it's just not cooperating.
the main issue is, it keeps getting stuck on 'processing' after i paste in text or a URL. sometimes it loads forever, other times it just errors out with a generic 'something went wrong' message. i've tried clearing my browser cache, using incognito, even tried it on a different machine, but no luck. it's driving me absolutly crazy.
i'm trying to figure out if this is a common problem with these kinds of web tools or if i've missed something obvious in the setup. has anyone else experienced this with their keyword density tools, and what was your fix? feeling pretty desperate to get this working for our content optimization efforts. thanks in advance!

I completely understand how frustrating it is when a core tool for your content optimization strategy just won't cooperate. I've definitely hit similar walls with web tools, especially those critical for effective content analysis, where you're just staring at a 'processing' spinner, wondering if you're the only one. It can really throw a wrench in your workflow.
Given you've already tried clearing cache, incognito, and even a different machine, it sounds like the issue might be beyond simple client-side browser quirks. Here's a breakdown of what could be happening and how to approach it:
- Browser Extensions & Ad-blockers: Even in incognito, some browser extensions can still interfere, especially if they're network-level or security-focused. Try disabling ALL extensions temporarily and then re-testing. Sometimes an ad-blocker or privacy extension can block critical JavaScript or API calls that the tool needs to function.
- Network/Firewall Restrictions: While less common, corporate networks or firewalls can sometimes block specific requests or domains that the tool relies on. If you're using it on a work network, try testing it on a completely different network (e.g., your home Wi-Fi, a mobile hotspot) to rule this out.
- Input Size & Complexity: If you're pasting a very large amount of text or a URL to a particularly complex page (e.g., one with heavy JavaScript rendering, numerous embedded elements, or behind a login), the tool's backend might be struggling to process it within its allocated time or memory limits. Try feeding it a much smaller, simpler piece of text or a very basic URL to see if it works. This can help diagnose if the issue is with the content itself or the tool's core functionality.
- Tool's Server-Side Issues: The most likely culprit for 'processing forever' or generic errors after client-side troubleshooting is often on the tool's end.
- API Limits/Server Load: The tool might be hitting its own API rate limits, or their servers could be under heavy load, causing requests to queue up and time out.
- Backend Bugs: There could be a bug in their parsing logic that's triggered by specific content patterns in your text or URL, leading to an unhandled error.
- Updates/Maintenance: Sometimes these issues crop up during or after software updates.
- Check Developer Console for Specific Errors: When the tool is stuck or errors out, open your browser's developer console (usually F12 or right-click -> Inspect -> Console tab). Look for any red error messages in the Console or any failed network requests in the Network tab. These can provide much more specific clues about what's actually failing (e.g., a 400, 500, or CORS error). Screenshot these if you find them.
Actionable Advice:
- Contact the Tool's Support: This is your best next step. Provide them with all the details: the exact text or URL you're using, your browser/OS, what you've already tried, and any specific error messages or console output you can find. They'll have access to their server logs and can tell you if it's a known issue or specific to your account/input.
- Consider Alternatives: While you're waiting for a fix, it might be worth exploring other robust tools that offer keyword density and more advanced content analysis features, especially for aspects like semantic SEO. Tools like Surfer SEO, Clearscope, or even the content optimization features within SEMrush or Ahrefs can provide similar functionalities and might offer more stability or different insights into your content.
Hopefully, one of these approaches helps you get to the bottom of it. What specific tool are you currently using, if you don't mind sharing?
