Having Issues With Our Free XML Sitemap Generator Not Helping Website Indexing Properly?

We run a handy little tool called 'Free XML Sitemap Generator' and have been scratching our heads over a peculiar issue lately. While our generator consistently produces valid XML sitemaps, we're not seeing the positive impact on website indexing that we'd expect, especially for new or recently updated pages. It feels like our sitemaps aren't effectively doing their job.

Specifically, we've noticed new pages taking an unusually long time to get indexed, and occasionally, existing indexed pages seem to drop out of the index without any clear reason, despite successful sitemap submissions. We've gone through the usual checks:

• Confirmed sitemap format validity with multiple validators (no errors reported).
• Successfully submitted the sitemaps to Google Search Console (GSC).
• Checked GSC for crawl errors, and there are none directly linked to the sitemap itself.
• Ensured our robots.txt file permits crawling of all relevant URLs.

Given all this, we're a bit stumped. What common oversights or advanced troubleshooting steps might we be missing that could be causing our XML sitemaps not to effectively aid website indexing? Anyone faced something similar or have insights into why valid sitemaps might not be delivering the expected SEO punch?
