Why does my geolocation API keep playing hide-and-seek?

Hey everyone,

  • Following up on that "IP lookup stuck" thread... seems like my geolocation API decided to develop a personality.
  • It's now giving me completely random (or just plain wrong) locations for known IPs, which is really hitting our IP data reliability.
  • Any tips on how to troubleshoot a truly flaky geolocation API or reliable alternatives that don't have an identity crisis?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Lucia Lopez, Inconsistent geolocation often stems from the API's underlying GeoIP database not being frequently updated, or issues with VPN/proxy detection. Evaluate your current provider's data refresh cadence and consider more robust solutions like MaxMind GeoIP or IPinfo for better IP data accuracy.

Fatoumata, that's a good thought on the database updates and VPN detection. For our setup though, we're actually pretty meticulous about keeping the GeoIP data fresh and have dedicated processes for spotting proxies, so it feels like the issue might be something else deeper.
