man, i'm completely losing it here, our country codes directory, you know, the 'country codes directory: international phone, calling, dialing & iso codes' thing, it's totally failing us right now. it's supposed to be a critical online utility for our users, helping them find international phone codes and iso codes, but it's completely broken and we're getting hammered with complaints. the search functionality, for country codes, calling codes, and even iso codes, has become incredibly erratic. users are reporting such inconsistent results; sometimes a perfectly valid country name or code just returns nothing, or worse, it displays incorrect or totally outdated information. i've noticed the mapping between calling codes and iso codes seems to be completely borked for so many entries, it's just not working like it should. i've been at this for hours, literally, trying to figure out what the hell is going on. i've thoroughly checked our database for corruption or missing data, and it looks okay, no obvious issues there. i've cleared all server-side caches, thinking maybe it was a stale data issue, but nope. i've reviewed all recent deployments for any unintended side effects, but there haven't been any core changes to this specific tool recently. i even tried restarting the entire web server and database instance, hoping for a miracle, but still no luck. i really suspected a caching problem or maybe a db connection issue, but my usual go-to fixes are just not working. the main symptom is honestly just the unpredictability of the search results โ€“ like, a search for 'france' might work perfectly fine, but then 'fr' or '+33' yields absolutely nothing, or sometimes it's the other way around. it's just random. some country detail pages just hang indefinitely too, which is super frustrating for users. and the worst part? we're not seeing any explicit error messages in our application logs. mostly just timeouts or empty data arrays being returned to the frontend, which makes debugging a nightmare. i'm completely stuck and honestly running out of ideas here. this is affecting our user experience so badly, it's a core part of our site. has anyone, anyone at all, encountered similar perplexing issues with data-intensive online utilities or directories where the symptoms are just so inconsistent but there are no clear errors logged? any specific debugging steps or areas i should really focus on that i might be missing? i'm desperate for any insight, truly. thanks in advance!
